Privacy Policy

When you use our free calculators, we do not require you to provide any personal information. Calculator inputs (state, offense number, BAC level, income) are processed server-side to generate your estimate and are not stored in association with any identifying information.

When you ask us to connect you with an attorney, we collect the information you provide. This can include your name, email address, phone number, county or ZIP, and case details (BAC level, offense number, arrest timing, employment situation, and similar intake answers). We also record your consent to be contacted, along with the date, the wording you agreed to, the IP address and browser the request came from, whether your browser sent a Global Privacy Control signal, and how you arrived at our site (see Cookies and Local Storage below).

To document your consent, the attorney request form uses TrustedForm, a service of ActiveProspect, which records how the form was shown and filled out and issues a certificate of that record. Our forms may also use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals from your browser to tell people from automated programs.

We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate data about site usage including page views and navigation paths. This data does not include personally identifiable information.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and general device, browser, and approximate location information. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visitors. We do not send your name, email address, phone number, or case details to Google Analytics. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

If you ask us to email your calculator results, we use your email address only to send them (and to briefly limit repeat sends); we do not add it to a mailing list.

When you ask us to connect you with an attorney, your contact details and case information are used to do so, as described in the next section.

DUIcostcalculator.com is not a law firm, is not a lawyer referral service, and does not provide legal advice. When you ask us to connect you with an attorney, we sell and share your personal information with third-party attorneys, law firms, and attorney lead buyers, and we are compensated when we do.

The categories of personal information we sell or share are: identifiers (name, email address, phone number, county or ZIP), case and qualification information (offense number, arrest timing, BAC estimate, whether you already have an attorney, employment situation), how you arrived at our site (the page you landed on, the referring site, campaign tags, and ad click identifiers), and inferences drawn from that information. We share this with licensed attorneys, law firms, and the lead buyers who route requests to them, for the purpose of connecting you with an attorney who can help with your case.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and similar state laws, you have the right to: know and access the personal information we collect; delete it; correct it; opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information; limit the use of sensitive personal information; designate an authorized agent to act for you; and not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC opt-out signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser.

If your browser sends a GPC signal and you fill in our attorney request form, we will not send your request unless you tick a separate box confirming that you want it sent. If you do, we share your details only to answer that request: once, with one attorney or law firm, or with one lead service that passes it to one of its attorney clients. We do not use it for any other purpose, and we remove ad click identifiers from it.

We use browser localStorage to store your dark/light mode preference and to remember that you have dismissed the first-visit legal disclaimer. When you can request an attorney connection on our site, we also store how you arrived (the page you landed on, the referring site, campaign tags such as utm_source, and ad click identifiers such as gclid) for up to 90 days, and attach it to any request you submit. Your name, email, phone number, and case details are never stored in localStorage. Google Analytics sets first-party analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors and sessions. We do not use advertising cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we turn off Google Analytics' advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization) for your visits. This site shows no advertising.

Anonymous calculator usage data is retained in aggregate indefinitely.

Lead and consent records (your contact details, case information, and proof of the consent you gave) for a request that is sent, or may be sent, to an attorney or lead buyer are kept for five years to document consent and meet legal recordkeeping obligations, and are then deleted. A request we cannot send to anyone (for example, one submitted without consent or after an opt-out) is deleted after 90 days.

You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. To access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to use an authorized agent, email privacy@duicostcalculator.com. We will respond within 30 days. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
